Read your condo docs or things could get nasty
A nasty court case over a condo parking spot should provide everyone with a reminder about the potential for disputes when you are living in shared space. The key thing for condo owners, and prospective owners, is to ensure they have read and understand the condo’s documentation, including the rules and regulations for the development. Each development will have different rules that may impact how you use and enjoy your unit now and in the years ahead. For example, some building may not allow BBQs while others many restrict your ability to rent your unit or restrict occupation to a “single family unit”, which the Board of Directors would define for that individual condo corporation. Knowing the specific rules for your condo ahead of time will go along way to helping you select the right place to buy and help avoid a conflict down the road. The National Post has all the details of the case.
